Farmer success stories

Lakshmi, a farmer from Krishna district, cultivated vegetables on her two-acre land but faced low income due to middlemen exploitation. Dharaniputra Organics introduced her to organic farming and connected her to local farmer markets. With training in soil health and seed selection, her produce quality improved dramatically. Customers began preferring her chemical-free vegetables, and her earnings doubled within one year. Lakshmi is now a role model in her village, inspiring other women to take up organic farming. She also leads a small women’s self-help group supported by our NGO.

Suresh’s mango orchard in Chittoor was facing pest attacks and declining yields. After joining Dharaniputra Organics’ Integrated Farming program, he learned natural pest control methods, organic manure preparation, and mulching techniques. Within two seasons, his trees regained health, producing sweeter, chemical-free mangoes that fetched 40% higher prices in the Hyderabad organic market. The profits helped him expand into intercropping vegetables, creating an additional income source. Suresh now trains other orchard owners in sustainable practices through our NGO’s farmer network, ensuring the benefits spread across the community.

Anitha, from drought-prone Anantapur, relied on rain-fed groundnut farming with unpredictable returns. Dharaniputra Organics introduced her to millet cultivation, which requires less water and grows well in dry climates. With our seed support and training in organic millet farming, she harvested her first crop in record time. The demand for her pesticide-free millet in health-conscious urban markets brought her three times the income she used to earn. Today, Anitha has converted all her land to organic millet and actively promotes climate-resilient crops to other farmers in her area.

Ramesh, a small farmer from Guntur, was struggling with rising costs of chemical fertilizers and low crop yields. In 2022, he attended Dharaniputra Organics’ training on organic paddy cultivation. With guidance on composting, natural pest control, and water management, his production costs dropped by 35%, and yields increased by 20%. Today, Ramesh sells his organic rice at a premium price directly to consumers through our market linkages. He has cleared his debts and is now saving for his children’s education. Ramesh proudly says, “Switching to organic was the best decision of my farming life.”
